Thames Christian School & Battersea Chapel has been shortlisted for the RIBA London Awards 2024.
The project, sited next to Clapham Junction railway station, brings together the Battersea Chapel Baptist Church and the independent co-educational secondary Thames Christian School. The 6-storey, 5,175m2 building provides the church with a new community hall and sanctuary, and allows the school to expand to 400 pupils, of which nearly half are on the SEN register.
Seventy-six projects has been shortlisted for the RIBA London Awards 2024.
RIBA Regional Director of London, Dian Small, said:
"As we seek new housing solutions and innovative approaches to urban regeneration, these projects provide hope for the future of our cities.
"From small-scale refurbishments and self-build family homes in South London, to revitalised cultural centres in the West, and re-imagined industrial heritage sites in the North, the projects highlight the diversity of London's rich architectural heritage, but remain united in their commitment to social value and sustainable design."
