De Roosenberg Oud-Heverlee, Belgium 2023–

The De Roosenberg Community Centre for the municipality of Oud-Heverlee will accommodate a new library, council chamber, cafe, multipurpose hall to seat 560 and foyer. Henley Halebrown & WV Architecten’s design builds on a longstanding collaboration between the two practices, and a shared interest in working with existing buildings. It involves a comprehensive transformation of an existing 1990s building by van Steenkiste and Bruggemans, and remodelling it into a vibrant, outward-facing ‘palace for the people’, while linking the building with its surrounding new parklands.

A collaboration with WV Architecten, the project was won in competition through the Vlaams Bouwmeester Open Call programme in 2023/24.
