Hackney Design Awards
February 2019
The results of the 2018 Hackney Design Awards have been announced, with our schemes De Beauvoir Block and Kings Crescent Estate Phases 1&2 among the six winning designs.
The biennial award was set up by the Council in 2004 to celebrate the rich variety of design and architecture in the borough. Our co-housing scheme Copper Lane was awarded the Hackney Design Award in 2016.
The judges commended De Beauvoir Block as "...an inventive scheme, which has breathed new life into a collection of former industrial buildings.... It is testament to the skill of the architects that this scheme has become such an attractive and creative hotspot within this quiet, mainly residential location."
In regards to Kings Crescent, “The judges admired the clever integration of existing blocks within the scheme, with their modest, playful interventions including projecting winter gardens". They commented, "The new buildings feature thoughtful detailing, with a restrained and subtle palette of materials... This project sets an extremely high bar for estate regeneration.”
