Dialogues 25 - Bruno Silvestre
February 2025
On Thursday 20 March, Henley Halebrown will host Dialogues 25 with Bruno Silvestre on 'Álvaro Siza — Notes on a Beginning'.
In this talk, Bruno will be sharing some of the emerging outcomes of his doctoral research, which is focused on the design processes and sketching practices of Álvaro Siza. By delving into the extensive collections of sketchbooks held at Drawing Matter and the Canadian Centre for Architecture, Bruno’s research aims to cast fresh insights and extend the scope of our understanding of Álvaro Siza’s body of work.
Bruno Silvestre graduated in Architecture from the Department of Architecture of the University of Coimbra in 2000. He worked as a practicing architect in Portugal before joining Henley Halebrown in London in 2003. Since 2013 he has co-authored the social housing projects for Bairro da Boavista and for Novo Bairro da Cruz Vermelha in Lisbon, which was awarded the Portuguese National Architecture Award for Collective Housing in 2022.
Since 2007, he has been involved in architectural education in the UK, where he teaches Architectural Design and History of Architecture. Bruno is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture at Kingston School of Art in London. He is currently a PhD student at the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism at Carleton University and the Department of Architecture at the University of Coimbra under a research bursary funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (Portugal).
The talk will also be live streamed on Henley Halebrown's YouTube channel.
