Erith Town Hall London 2017–2017

This speculative research project illustrates a future use for one of London’s many lost town halls. With changes to London’s municipal boundaries and the centralisation of council services, a number of town halls across the capital have been marginalised. Our proposal is a widely applicable model for the revitalisation of these redundant town halls as a community focus.

Our scheme contrasts with the current trend for aggregating public uses into single monumental buildings with significant wasted circulation space. Our strategy instead celebrates the theatre of public life through a cluster of buildings that frame and enhance a vibrant and flexible new public space.
